Sexuality Issues

nt takes place much earlier. We are not speaking here of the (perhaps socially driven) earlier onset of pubescent behavior, with eleven- or even ten-year-olds imitating the sexual behavior of their elders. We are speaking of younger children, and of both directly sexual behavior or play (e.g., genital manipulation) and of broader social gender division--girls playing with dolls, for example, while boys play with "action figures." Evidence has been found, for example, that prenatal hormonal exposure sometimes correlates to "tomboyishness" in girls; yet similar exposure does not correlate to femininity in boys. It is clear that the sexual development of children is a complex multivariate process, with both social and biological inputs.
