In Touch Promotions (ITP)

This is an excerpt from the paper...

In Touch Promotions (ITP) is a company which supplies promotional items to companies in the Ledyard, Connecticut region. The company's owners are Karen Meyer and Kathy Spain, two former sales representative from the printing industry. Meyer and Spain are building on their familiarity with industrial printing methods and some of the contacts they made during their careers in order to launch ITP; both live in the immediate vicinity.

ITP sells promotional items to companies for use at trade shows, as giveaways to employees, and as leave-behind items for in-person sales contacts. ITP does not produce these items directly, but instead contracts production to vendors who specialize in particular types of printing. This decreases the amount of capitalization which is required, and also gives ITP more flexibility in terms of the types of items which it can offer.

ITP is a privately held corporation which is seeking additional capital of $250,000 to help it in its expansion activities. Financial statements are provided later in this report which indicate the company's financial performance to date. Because of the highly competitive nature of the business and the fact that ITP is not a public company, the contents of this business plan are strictly confidential and are not to be released to any outside individuals without the prior written consent of ITP.

Meyer and Spain both worked in industrial printing as sales representatives (although they never worked for the same company at the same time). They are familiar with the decision making processes that companies use when purchasing industrial printing (such as blueprints or manuals), and they have built up a large contact base. Spain had management experience before starting ITP, while Meyer had more technical sales experience. Neither has owned a business prior to ITP. Meyer and Spain recruited their outside sales representatives from among former colleagues, and one of these recommended the two inside sales staffers. All of the employees are familiar with the industry and the type of techniques used in the printing process for these types of items. While none has direct experience with promotional item selling, all have purchased pr
