Conflicts in the School Setting

This is an excerpt from the paper...

Conflicts occur at all levels of an organization and between individuals, departments, offices, and any other division of entities in the organization. Conflicts need not escalate into open argument but will develop because of differences in point of view, differences in information acquired, even personality differences. Some settings are more rigidly controlled and more directed at reducing conflict, and the school setting is one such organization. The proper running of the school requires that conflict be reduced as much as possible, and where conflict is allowed it is under controlled conditions, as in open meetings, the classroom, within departments, and so on. There is a hierarchy in the classroom as well, and the classroom also exists within the larger hierarchy of the school. Disputes might be settled between teacher and student directly, or it may require the intervention of the administration or a committee set up to consider whatever specific types of dispute is involved. There are academic rights committees to solve both interpersonal and academic disputes between teacher and student. Disputes between students would be addressed by boards of complain that are part of the student government or by the intervention of another student, a teacher, or an administrator, again depending on the nature of the conflict. Considering the number of people involved in this organization, the number of different levels, and the relationship among those levels and with the community at large, it is not surprising that conflicts develop. It would be virtua
