This paper presents a tion of the corporate assistant general manager. Corporate management is a many faceted task. It ranges from finance to human resources management to organizational structure. The Managerial Function of the CorporateAssistant General Manager While corporate management must effectively address the wide scope of organizational functions associated with a corporation, the assistant general manager must assure that thefacts relevant to each of the functional areas, and the views of the functional managers are coordinated in a way which facilitates the corporate decisionmaking process with respect to the major issues confronting the corporation (Glueck, 1988). The function of the corporate assistant general manager, therefore, is heavily dependent upon the development and implementation of effective corporate communication systems, and on the coordination of senior managerial personnel in the decisionmaking process (Daft, 1986). Within this process, the individual decisions of the functional managers must be incorporated into a group decisionmaking process for the total organization (Szilagy, and Wallace, 1987). Two types of models describe the relationship between an organization and its environment. These two types of models are those which measure (1) outcome interdependence, and (2) behavior interdependence. To understand these model types, it is necessary to understand the concept of interdependence, in the context of organizational environments. "Interdependence is the reason why nothing comes out quite the way one wants it to. An event that depends on more than one causal agent is an outcome based on interdependent agents" (Bertrand, 1987, 204). As coalitions, organizations are characterized by the interdependence of their participants.
