PARENTAL INFLUENCE ON AGGRESSIVE CHILD BEHAVIORThis research examined the relationship between aggressive behavior by children and parental influences that either aggravate or moderate such behavior. The methodology of this examination involved the preparation of annotated bibliographic descriptions of each of the sources consulted. Seven sources are included in this research. The research studies reported in these seven articles deal with the issue of parental influences on the aggressive behaviors of children from a variety of perspectives. Bjorkqvist and Osterman (1992, pp. 411423) reported the findings of a study the effects on the aggressive behaviors of children of both parental behaviors and the children's perceptions of the character of their relationships with their parents. Downey and Walker (1992, pp. 8195) reported on a study that was designed to measure the relative importance as influencers of aggressive behaviors by children of parentallevel factors and childlevel factors. Gabel, Belsky, and Crnic (1992, pp. 276294) examined the role of angry and hostile parental interactions as influencers of aggressive behaviors by children of such marital partners. Gable and Shindledecker (1993, pp. 4858) examined the association between parental substance abuse and aggressive child behavior.
