ASSESSMENT OF PUBLIC OPINION: PROPOSED PHOTO/RADAR TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM This research assesses a sample of public opinion in Pasadena, California in relation to a proposed photo/radar traffic enforcement system. The research question investigated was stated as follows:
Does sufficient public support exist to justify the approval and implementation of the proposed photo/radar traffic enforcement system in Pasadena, California?
To develop an answer to the research question investigated, a series of six hypotheses were formulated. These six hypotheses were stated as follows:
1. It is hypothesized that no public support exists in Pasadena, California for a photo/radar traffic enforcement system.
2. It is hypothesized that an implementation of a photo/radar traffic enforcement system in the face of an absence of public support for such a system implies a governmental imposition of such a system.
3. It is hypothesized that a photo/radar traffic enforcement system is attractive to municipal governments because of the capacity of such a system to generate a high volume of revenue.
4. It is hypothesized that support for a photo/radar traffic enforcement system among the general population of Pasadena, California increases with the age of individuals.
5. It is hypothesized that the general population in Pasadena, California is more concerned with criminal activity other than traffic enforcement that it is concerned with traffic enforcement.
