The Justice for All Organization

This is an excerpt from the paper...

Justice for All is an organization originally founded in Texas as a victims' rights organization, based on the view that the criminal justice system does not do enough for the victims while protecting the rights of the accused. The organization was founded in July 1993. It makes its position clear in a statement included on its web page as to its purpose:

Justice for All shall act as an advocate for change in a criminal justice system that is inadequate in protecting the lives and property of law abiding citizens.

Through private citizen and corporate membership, Justice for All will peacefully exert the social and legislative influence necessary to effect positive change in the criminal justice system. An informed, dedicated and politically active membership will be the greatest asset in achieving that objective (jfa.net).

The organization takes stand on political races, especially those involving the election of judges. It is in the process of expanding to as many states as possible. The organization has taken particular stands in support of the death penalty, for longer sentences, and to call for stronger enforcement of child abuse laws.

The purpose of the organization is evident in what is promised for an associated group called Murder Victims:

There are also links to police sites and other criminal justice sites where more information can be found. Certain kinds of crime are of greater concern to the organization and are given added attention, and murder and child abuse are the two crimes being given the most attention currently. The most recent posting includes information on child abuse in Texas and how well it is being addressed: The number of Texas children dying from abuse and neglect declined 21 percent from 1998 to 1999, says a new report from the Texas Department of Regulatory Services. The report said 171 Texas children died of abuse and neglect during fiscal 1998, while 135 died in fiscal 1999. The state's fiscal year ends Aug. 31 (jfa.net). The article also notes that the number of children removed from dangerous situations increased 25 percent, from 6,917 in fiscal 1998 to 8,650 in fiscal 1999, and that the Texas Legislature spent $200 million in 1999 to increase the power of the agency. The agency has also
