In my company, a real-estate firm, we are unveiling a new Information Technology to help make communication between different departments more productive, efficient and totally on-line. These departments include: administration, finance, sales. The proposal is for a new Local Area Network (LAN) of computers that will allow for administrators, sales people, customers and finance workers to work together efficiently and more productively all linked to the same data base of information. This document will explain the steps necessary in the process for creating the proposal for this system to be delivered to the President of the Company, Mike Rooney.

In writing the proposal, the components to be considered are: clear, realistic financial projections; detailed market research; detailed competitor research; management and administration; good formatting and clear writing; implementation strategy (Elkins, 1996: 60-61). The beginning of the process is the gathering of information. Where this proposal is concerned, information must be gathered on the different type of LAN systems available and their costs and benefits/disadvantages. Further, information on what is required by the different departments to work together efficiently is also required.
