Biz Case Review
This is an excerpt from the paper...
The lesson to be learned from this case is that very often a company that is owned by one individual has a set of informal rules that subtly operate within the organization. For example, Ben Franklyn is a self-made, autocratic manager who imposes his will on the will of workers. This is done subtly by a series of informal rules that operate to create an “inner circle” or workers with special privileges compared to those not included in the circle. For example, those in this circle enjoy the trust and admiration of Ben Franklyn, even though he still expects gratitude for rewards overdue. They are also awarded special privileges, such as being able to enter and exit the building from a more convenient location than the front door most employees must use.
