The purpose of this analysis is to convince the Board of Trustees at Franklin University, my distinguished audience, that a new technology known as Bloomberg On-Line is an excellent technology to adopt from an application, productivity, efficiency and cost perspective. This analysis will cover the following aspects of this new technology: technology description; benefit potential; application areas; cost analysis; conclusions; implications.
The Bloomberg On-Line technology is a system that is currently available for a subscription fee on the World Wide Web. Bloomberg has “established a unique position within the financial services industry by consolidating a broad range of features in a single package. By addressing the demand for investment performance and efficiency through an unparalleled combination of information and analyses, Bloomberg Financial Markets has built a worldwide customer base of corporations, issuers, financial intermediaries, and institutional investors” like yourselves (About…, 1997: 1).
There are many benefits that would accrue to Franklin University from the use of this technology. This is because Bloomberg offers an on-line continuously updated variety of services that will enable financial investors at Franklin to make the most accurate, valid and reliable decisions possible regarding investing. For example, there are twelve on-line services the site offers, including things like Bloomberg Service and Bloomberg Press. Bloomberg Service is a “worldwide 24 hour a day, real-time financial information network of news, data and analyses of financial markets and business. The definitive source of data for all securities, statistics, indices and research,” (Products…, 1997: 1).
