INTRODUCTION – Industrial Testing Services (ITS)

This analysis of the calibration industry will primarily focus on Industrial Testing Services (ITS) and the Florida economy. ITS is a full service calibration and metrology laboratory located in St. Petersburg, Florida. The company is owned by a Native American family and has been providing calibration and metrology services to the industrial community in the U.S. since 1979 (About 1).

However, tourism, unlike the efforts of ITS, depends on the success of other states but as long as other industries within Florida’s economy continue to do well, companies like ITS should only see a modest if measurable impact on revenues. This is particularly true because of the positive economic indicators concerning the number of new businesses and diversity of industry within Florida. Diversity leads to less economic risk. While Florida’s tourism industry may suffer from the economic slowdown in other states across the nation, over the past several years its “growth rates have outpaced the overall economy” (Royse 2).
