In cultural events, from theater and festivals to rituals and parades, there are embedded various aspects of the culture performing them. Specifically, the social morals and values, what is considered good, is embedded in these events and the very performance of them is seen as journey through process. Margaret Thompson Drewal has done work with the Yoruba tribes and discovered this phenomenon exists within their cultural rituals. Drewal argues there are elements in the Yoruba rituals that “allow us to regard such rituals as spiritual journeys in which the participants are not blindly adhering to rigid artistic structures.
