There are many ways I see that culture and identity are intertwined now that I am living in the United States. There are many Greek customs and manners that I formerly believed were a part of human nature, but now I see that they are really because of being raised as a part of Greek culture. For example, in Greece people are very friendly and family oriented. Everyone takes an interest in everyone else’s life and remains very close. I figured this was how all people were until I started coming to school in America. One here I realized people do not remain close in school. In fact, I found out that people form cliques and unless you relate to their interests or fit in with their lifestyles you are generally not welcome as a part of the group. I also saw how many people are not that close with their families and seldom if ever even discuss their parents or siblings unless it is to voice a complaint about them. Thus, I s
