The KKK.com Homepage (http://www.kkk.com)

This page is sponsored by Ku Klux Klan members who are “interested in preserving and relaying the unadulterated truth about the Invisible Empire” (KKK, 2000, 1). While this is the purported purpose of the KKK Homepage, it is also a site with links to various Klan groups across the country. These site links lead to Klan group sites where interested individuals can apply for membership through E-Applications. The KKK Homepage advises you that if you are “anti-racialist” you should proceed no further into their Web Site (KKK, 2000, 1). The site is useful, if nauseating, for providing a host of information about the KKK for members and those interested as potential members. Various hot buttons lead to link pages that explain the KKK, such as “Klan Symbols”, “The Fiery Cross”, and “The Robe and Hood”. There are also articles which provide information on past, present and future Klan achievements and goals, such as an article entitled “Guide to the Fifth Era”. There is also a link for KKK contacts and one that allows individuals to purchase KKK trinkets.

The KKK Web Site is useful for understanding the group and its goals, especially the link that allows one to access the “KKK Political Program.” Here the Klan professes to be issues oriented rather than politically oriented, because it supports any candidate who adopts a favorable position on its core issues designed to reinforce white Christian society:

Reassert America's White Christian heritage.

Drug testing for all welfare recipients. If they have money for drugs, they don't need your tax dollars.

Make the purchase of American industry and property by foreigners illegal.

Do away with free trade that harms the American worker and employ a policy of protectionism.

Workfare, not welfare. You work for your check, so should they!
