Many contemporary individuals view today’s University as an institution whose primary mission is to prepare students for a good job after graduation. In light of this priority, any other benefits that accrue from a four-year undergraduate career are insignificant. I wholeheartedly agree with the above statement.

A four-year university career represents a major investment in resources. Among these are tuition, living expenses, time, books, lab fees, and other incidental costs. Typically, these combined expenses run a minimum of $50,000 or more and can go as high as $200,000 at major universities like Harvard, Yale, and others. Further, in order to spend the necessary amount of time it takes to achieve a baccalaureate degree, including 40+ hours per week in class and study time, individuals who pursue a degree are hampered in their ability to earn wages.
