The relationship between individuality and happiness as expressed in Huxley’s Brave New World is a complex one. In this futuristic society, all of the pain, unhappiness, and troubles of living are extracted from day-to-day existence in an effort to create a utopia of happiness. People love capitalism and economic idols (Henry Ford), alter any negative mood through the use of wonder drugs (Soma), and are preconditioned to react as sex machines. Technology is misused to create such a society, where happiness may be the goal but at the price of individuality.
