Reporters collect information, write stories, and print stories that provide us with information about significant local, state, and national events. Reporters play a vital role in disseminating information with respect to the actions of public officials, corporate executives, special-interest groups, and others who influence society. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, a reporter’s job is to “investigate leads and news tips, look at documents, observe events at the scene, interview people, take notes and take photographs or shoot pictures” (Occupational 1).
