Letters

This is an excerpt from the paper...

I am writing this letter to you to seek your aid in helping me to improve my grade for sociology from an “F” to a “D”. I have worked hard during the semester but have not done as well as I expected. I am willing to do any extra work you deem necessary to elevate my grade one level. I am willing to do a paper assignment or whatever research you require to make you feel I have earned a higher letter grade than an “F”. If you cannot assist me in accomplishing this goal, I would ask that you might possibly give me a “W” for the semester instead of the “F”. While I did not perform to the level of my ability this term, I am willing to do whatever it takes to prove to you that I genuinely wish to improve my performance and grade. I had a very difficult time this term and some quite difficult courses. Because of this I got into a situation where a domino effect seemed to occur and despite my trying I seemed to be unable to meet the requirements of my classes to a satisfactory level.

I ask that you give me a second chance to improve my grade because this level of performance is not typical for me, and because I hope you can understand that sometimes we get ourselves into a situation where we need some extra assistance to perform on a higher level. I would be most appreciative if you could see your way to giving me some type of assignment, written or otherwise, th

it. Please reconsider this situation and the fact that I did the work you required to raise my grade to “Satisfactory” and am willing to do more. I greatly appreciate your time and consideration in this academic matter. Sincerely Yours, Mohammed Said To: Dr. Hugh Macuigan From: Mohammed Al-Said Re: Music Grade/Professor Vodnoy Date: Jan. 9, 2000 I am writing to you because of the dour situation I find myself in this term after receiving “F” grades in philosophy, history, and music. While I have addressed letters to professors in my other course, I am specifically asking you for help with my music class and Professor Vodnoy. I had an enormously difficult time this semester and admit that I did not perform at my typical level of academic ability. It seems that once I got behind, I began doing poorly in these three classes. However, I believe I have made serious effort to achieve a higher level of performance in these classes by seeking out additional work from the professors to demonstrate my ability and willingness to work hard. Unfortunately, despite my having done this, I still received “F” grades in two of these classes and an “Unsatisfactory” grade in another. When it comes to my music course and Pr
