Efficiency levels in government organizations often pale in comparison to their private sector counterparts, so much so, in fact, that the efficiency of government institutions has become somewhat of a running joke and fodder for late night talk show comedians in American culture. Why this should be the case is an important issue for discussion for anyone wishing to serve in a public capacity.
