THE DECISION OF A THIRTY YEAR OLD TO ENROLL IN COLLEGEAfter finishing high school I spent fourteen years working as a mechanic in an automotive dealership. I began to notice that I had deficiencies as I progressed in age. Today’s modern world more than ever demands people to be well versed in as many fields as possible, even the well educated are found struggling with the advent of the adventure king – The Computer. As a man in my early thirties, I had to face a major decision and to understand the reasons for making that decision. This decision was to go to college to earn an associate’s degree in Aviation Maintenance. The most important reason why I decided to go college was that I did not fit in the social circle that I found myself in. About five years ago I started skiing with a local ski club called the Chicago Fryers. I ended up traveling all over America and Europe. I met, skied and became friends with a lot of higher educated, open-minded people, which changed how I looked at life. To fit in with my new friends I had to educate myself to that higher level. Another personal reason was that I started dating extremely educated women. Some of them were CEO’s of major corporations; they were responsible for whole departments of 300 and more people. There were times that I had to show up at a work related parties and fit in. An well-educated person has got it a lot easier when it comes to fitting in and entertaining
