DOMESTIC VIOLENCE in Different Jurisdictions

A research design is proposed to compare the official response by civilian and military jurisdictions in the United States to reports or incidents of domestic violence. The term "official response," as it will be used in the proposed research, refers to actions taken by criminal justice professionals, social service professionals, and health care professionals.

The proposed research design is exploratory and descriptive in character. The objectives of the proposed research are to learn what the official responses are of the relevant civilian and military agencies, to describe those responses, and to compare those responses within the context of the civilian-military dichotomy.

The proposed research design is structured to provide two avenues to the development of the information required to fulfill the objectives of the proposed research. First, members of official agencies, both civilian and military, that are responsible for responding to reports or incidents of domestic violence will be surveyed.
