The problem of employee misperceptions or faulty communication of ethical intentions in leaders is important since it results in a poor ethical work climate and decreased employee job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to examine and compare the perceptions held by employees and managers in a local business about the ethical leadership behavior of the managers and the communication of ethical standards by managers. Further the study will seek to understand the relationship between employee job satisfaction and employee perceptions of ethical leadership behavior and communication of ethical standards.

Assumptions of the study are that the self-reports of participants will reflect actual feelings and survey items will be answered honestly and completely. The sample selected for this study will be from a local business and include an available volunteer population; therefore, results of this research may not be generalizable to individuals in other geographical locations.
