Learning Tae-Bouan Aerobics

The challenging learning experience described and analyzed in this paper involves my effort to learn the exercise of Tae-bołan aerobics-oriented exercise that incorporates martial artsłfrom following the video. Because of my previous exposure to live aerobics classes in which I had experienced difficulties in following the choreographed steps of the instructor and the other students, I felt anxious and uncertain about my ability to perform the exercises. I was concerned that, as in the class, I would not be able to keep up with the pace of the exercises. Analyzing my feelings and attitudes in terms of classical conditioning principles (Field and Davies, cited in Saavedra and Silverman 1376), I can see that my feelings of inadequacy from my exposure to aerobics classes were associated with learning how to perform Tae-bo, another aerobics-oriented activity. At the same time, I was also highly interested in trying something new within a safe environment. Knowing that I could always stop and rewind the tape provided me with a sense of control that alleviated my feelings of anxiety.While doing the Tae-bo by following along with the video, I experienced a wide range of sensations and perceptions. First of all, I felt energized by the physical activity that was extremely intense. Still, I could feel my arms and my legs aching fairly quickly because they were not accustomed to the exercises. Nonetheless, because Billy Blanks, the instructor in the video, taught the exercise
