Degree of Master of Health Administration
This study investigated the problems associated with the incarceration of older people with a view toward the recommendation of policy changes that will benefit both society and elderly prisoners. The study found that a combination of (a) reduced sentences, (b) increased use of parole for elderly prisoners, (c) the use of privately contracted special facilities for elder prisoners who should be released or paroled for security reasons, and (d) the creation of hospice penal units for elderly prisoners who are dying offers the best outcomes for both society and elderly prisoners.
