My primary reason for pursuing an Individualized Studies Program degree is to further develop my career in the criminal justice system, a career that has spanned more than 20 years. Currently I am a child care worker in the Department of Children Youth Services of Hamden, Connecticut helping children deal with their emotional disorders. My previous employment involved counseling to young people that aimed to provide structure, stability and a sense of direction to their lives in order to cut down on their behavior problems and to hopefully prevent future criminal acts.
