Community Health Specialization

The Community Health Specialization focuses on developing strategies that improve the health of communities and their individual members. In my study in this area of interest, I will concentrate in the areas of community health education/health promotion. Regardless of the concentration, however, my academic work will incorporate the three core community health functions, which are as follows:

Principles of organizational and social systems

Advanced knowledge practice issues in the delivery of health services

Advanced knowledge ethical issues in the delivery of health services

Advanced knowledge case study in the delivery health services

The study of the principles of societal development covers four specific areas of interest. A critical analysis of theories of sociocultural change and development provide a theoretical framework for the examination of the social development process. A review of the social history of community health care places the current situation in perspective. A research-based analysis of the effects of social forces on the delivery of community health services develops an understanding of the many factors that affect the delivery of community health service

rning objectives through the preparation and presentation of a scholarly paper. The paper will report the outcomes of the first two learning objectives in the form of reviews of relevant literature. The paper will report the results of the last learning objective as a design for a community health program with a focus on the ethnical character of the program design. Use of Tools I will rely on the Internet to access databases and other sources of information relevant to my pursuit of the first learning objective for this learning area. I will interview knowledgeable people in several municipal health departments to obtain the information required for the second learning objective. With respect to the last learning objective, I will interview community health advocates to identify ethical concerns of target populations.
