The mission of the Human Resource Management Department involves providing innovative, timely, and cost effective human resource services and solutions. The department accomplishes this mission through the development of core human resource policies, practices, and strategies.

Human Resource Management helps companies and other organizations to administer more efficient human resource programs by providing technical assistance, training, and information in the form of:

Guidelines for personnel development;

Administration of employee classification and compensation plans;

Administration of training and professional development programs; and

Administrative oversight and management of the personnel information system to support human resource processes and transactions.

The main challenge for the Human Resources Department is to develop a Human Resources policy that meets the current and future needs and expectations of the organization. Companies have a myriad of options when choosing a HR management style. However, HR departments must ensure that first and foremost the organization operates in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

After selecting a HR management policy, the HR department must establish a set of guidelines for maintaining, enforcing, and modifying that policy. Modification never stops. Modifications are made in response to the internal needs of the company, as well as changing laws, and external business conditions. HR policy modifications may also be required in response to a shortage of labor, or to a shortage of individuals with a particular skill set.
