The nation of Egypt has both economic advantages and disadvantages. The nation is blessed with a great deal of natural wealth in terms of oil reserves. It is headed by a stable government and is the seat of one of the most ancient civilizations in the world. But the country is also faced by a number of challenges, including the fact that the nation's oil supplies will run out in the relatively near future and - even more importantly - the fact that the nation's economy will in all likelihood continue to be negatively affected by the violence in the region.The country's economy has more state control than does that of the United States. According to the national constitution of 1971, the government's economy is based on socialist principles with the people as a whole - guided by the government, which issue five-year economic plans to guide the country.
