Analysis of Teacher Completed Questionnaires
This is an excerpt from the paper...
A total of 29 teachers returned completed questionnaires. The small return rate made it impossible to conduct meaningful comparative analyses across either groups or models. Therefore, the only kind of statistics that could be meaningfully compiled were those of a descriptive nature; e.g. means, and standard deviations. This section of the study presents the findings of these descriptive analyses conducted on teacher responses to the study's two dependent measures: (1) the frequency (always, usually, sometimes, rarely, never) with which teachers used the principle or strategy listed by the item; and (2) the degree of importance teachers attached to the principle or strategy that was listed by the item. Analyses are presented for each of the five categories of instructional models. Findings Observed For Information Processing Models The first information model examined was Jerome Bruner's Concept Attainment Model, the basic methods and principles of which were delineated in the first 9 items of the questionnaire. Teachers' responses to the items were weighted such that the greater the numerical score, the more frequently teachers could be said to use the model's principles and methods. As for the importance measure, similar weighting procedures were applied; that is the higher the numerical score, the more importance teachers attached to the methods or principle of the model delineated by the item.
