The Campeachy Resort of Texas The Campeachy Resort

This is an excerpt from the paper...

The Campeachy Resort is a new resort planned for Galveston, Texas. This will be a 500-room Victorian styled property that offers seaside recreational activities. The resort is being opened as the first in a series of resorts that the owners intend to operate in the United States and abroad.

The Texas location is designed to assist the operation to establish a reputation for high quality service and to provide easy access to the flagship property. Transportation to the resort will be accommodated by the facilities at Houston, and Texas should experience an economic boom in the 1990s as it came through the earlier recession strong, and the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is expected to bring additional economic benefit to the area. The property faces severe financial constraints because of the costs of acquiring land and the construction costs, but it is expected to provide a break-even level of operation by its third year of operation. This aggressive estimate will be ach

In order to meet these objectives, the resort must aggressively market its product. The resort will work closely with travel agents and tour operators, and will initially work closely with travel coordinators for large organizations that might be interested in holding conferences at the property. The sales department will be responsible for these activities. Since more than 50 percent of most reservations for resorts come from direct inquiry, the resort will install and maintain a toll-free (800) phone number which interested parties can use to phone for information. Travel agents and tour operators generally account for approximately 20 percent of a resort's business, so careful and regular contact will be made with such agencies. The resort will also have a computerized reservation system which will not only provide accurate room information, but which will be integrated with the property's main computer system in order to provide guest history information. In this way, guests who have a
