Males used drugs, engaged in delinquent acts, and were victimized at school more than females. Student ethnicity was linked only with delinquency with nonwhite students more likely to be delinquent. Increased school sense of community was associated with lower levels of drug use and delinquent behavior. Poverty level was not associated with either of these problem behaviors, however there was a significant interaction effect between school sense of community and poverty level interaction for delinquent behaviors. Thus the importance of school social context as a factor related to student problem behaviors was supported.
