Schoenberg Hall was filled with students and serious musicians on November 29, because the concert was a rather unusual one. It featured music from modern Japanese composer, an American, George Crumb, now in his Seventies, and France's Claude Debussy. The performers were all members of the UCLA music department, either graduate students and an associate professor, plus one freelance pianist. The fact that this was a program of "modern" music probably kept some people away. Modern music is not everyone's cup of tea.
