Justice Department's Case Against Microsoft
This is an excerpt from the paper...
Commercial power and influence on the market place are often looked on with some sort of disfavor or distrust by the government. Microsoft is an excellent example of how its domination of the software computer market has stirred up repercussions by the FTC, and when they dropped the case, by the Dept. of Justice. The Justice Department's argument is based on the presumption that Microsoft forced computer manufacturers like Compaq to install their Windows operating systems. The case is also joined by Microsoft competitors, Netscape and Sun Microsystems, whose ability to compete profitably was (and is) in question.
