In BUSINESS WEEK (October 28, 2002) there is an article "The Wizard of Intuit" (pp. 60-63) which deals with the restructuring and ultimate profitability achieved by Stephen M. Bennett after he took over as CEO of the struggling Intuit, Inc. a software maker. Chapter Eight refers to Economies of scale with efficient use of resources (p. 4). Bennett not merely restructured his company, but as he did so he decided to "ax businesses that can't be industry leaders" (p. 60).
