LEADERSHIP ISSUES INVOLVED IN ADDING AN OPEN-HEART WING TO THE HADI CLINICThis research considers leadership issues involved in an initiative to add an open-heart surgery facility to the Hadi Clinic. These leadership issues are considered within the contexts of (1) the environment and context of the proposed project, (2) case studies of comparable projects which have been successful, and (3) personal and professional capabilities necessary to attain the goal for the proposed project. Both the environment within which the open-heart surgery facility proposal will be pursued and the context of the proposed initiative itself are addressed in this section. The environment, which is the society of Kuwait, is addressed first. Jean Lipman-Blumen holds that leaders must to address issues of both interdependence and diversity if they are to be successful. Lipman-Blumen holds further that the world is entering a new, connective era in which everyone and everything is connected, and in which the conditions of leadership have changed, and wherein old leadership methods will not be effective.
