Journey to Success

The journey to success is an individual matter, as the ultimate success may appear differently for one person as compared to success for another. It is a rather abstract concept, somewhat defined by the culture and society, the family of one's origin, as well as one's individual drives and aspirations. In other words, it is possible that one could be a success as defined by oneself, even though it may appear from the outside that one has a quite ordinary existence. With that perspective in mind, it is useful to interpret the piece of art in terms of how a road to success might be experienced.

Starting on the road to success can seem daunting. The highway is long, and there are many obstacles. It looks dangerous and lonely. However, rather than retreat in despair, from afar, one can see in the distance the shining destination, and it might be worth the attempt to travel that road, not even knowing at the outset how one can surmount all the obstacles and resist the temptations and detours along the way. Somehow, keeping the distant goal in mind gives a person courage, and one can begin, even if it is a slow, one step at a time beginning.

Humility is required for this journey. One has to overcome the "I don't need anyone" syndrome and accept the help of more experienced and wise fellow travelers. One's final destination might be unique to the individual, but everyone is going somewhere, and people can help each other along the way. Others might have maps or useful snacks to share.

The road to success requires that one overcome misconceptions at the outset. A realistic assessment of one's true nature is a good place to begin.
