The female wage gap still exists. Despite the efforts of modern feminists, women still earn on average less than their male counterparts. Some of the sources of that inequality are prejudice in our education system, gaps in women's employment for family reasons, and the inability of some women to perform physically demanding jobs. Yet close of analysis of the facts often reveals the attitudes either that a woman's income is "extra" to the family and does not need to be as high as a man's because no one is depending on it or that the jobs women perform are not as important to a company as the jobs men perform.
