Many companies consider internal corporate communications to be one-sided communications from management to employees. Companies may be creative in the way that they formulate those communications, using newsletters, staff meetings and even intranets as the medium of communication, but the process is rarely considered strategic or quantitative. Increasingly, however, analysts are coming to realize that corporate communications occur regardless of whether companies plan those communications or not, and even a lack of communication is, itself, a type of communication. By understanding the role that internal corporate communications plays in an organization, and by seeking to manage and control that communication, organizations can improve their internal productivity and their external competitiveness. This research considers the nature of internal corporate communications, potential problems that can arise as part of the communication process, and ways to avoid or solve those problems.
