This paper presents a proposal for the development of an inventory control system for the custom-widget product group at Acme Widget Corporation (AWC). The elements of the proposal are as follows: (1) the project budget; (2) an operational description of the project; (3) a description and assessment of the important problems and opportunities associated with the project; and (4) a strategy for the development of long-term support for the project.

The proposed budget for the project provides planned expenditures over the development cycle of the project, as well as targets for the completion of major project objectives. The proposed initiation data for project development is 1 May 2001 with a completion data for the development phase of 31 December 2001. The statement of planned expenditures includes both objects of expenditure and program objectives.
