2.2.1 Decision Making Components That Use the System

This section explains the overall managerial reporting and decision-making structure in the Loudoun Museum organization. The Museum Organization Chart (which may be found on the following page) illustrates this structure.

As indicated in the Organizational Chart [which may be found on the following page] the ultimate authority in the Loudoun Museum organization is the Board of Directors, to which the chief operating officer of the Museum, the Curator, reports. The Curator will be a direct user of the proposed computerized inventory management system for the Museum Gift Shop, while the Board of Directors will continue to receive required information through the Curator.

Four directors [Artifacts/Collections, Display Operations, Interorganizational Operations, and Gift Shop] report directly to the Curator. The Artifacts/Collections Director exercises responsibility got both the acquisition and preservation of the Museum's artifacts.

The Display Operations Director exercises responsibility for the public display of the Museum's collections, as well as supervising the activities of the Membership Office and the Publicity Office of the Museum. The Interorganizational Operations Director exercises responsibility for liaison with other historical institutions, as well as supervising the activities of the Accounting Department and the Maintenance Department of the Museum.

The Museum Gift Shop Director exercises overall responsibility for the operation of the Gift Shop. The director supervises two separate sections within the Gift Shop Department ยท Sales and Procurement & Inventory. The Procurement & Inventory Section is responsible for maintaining and operating the inventory management system for the Museum Gift Shop.
