Addressing this issue, however, should not be construed to mean that the full range of a woman's options concerning abortion should not also be discussed during abortion counseling (Burke, 1992, pp. 12631269).

In my opinion, abortion is likely the most divisive issue in contemporary American society. The issue of abortion involves philosophical, political, religious, biological, medical, healthboth physical and emotional, and even economic questions. In biological and medical contexts, scientists are asked to establish parameters that may be universally applied to determine when a fetus may be expected to be able to survive outside the womb (Bayer, 1990, pp. 564
