This study measured the attitudes and perceptions of teachers and administrators in Saud Arabia toward the mainstreaming of special education students. Differences in attitudes and perceptions were compared through the control of selected demographic and background variables. Hypotheses associated with these comparisons were tested through the application of analysis of variance (ANOVA) procedures. The data were assessed further to determine the validity of predicting attitudes and perceptions toward the mainstreaming of special education students on the basis of the demographic and background characteristics of teachers and administrators. These determinations were made through the application of forward stepwise regression analysis procedures to the data.The findings of the research performed are presented in this chapter. The comparative analysis results, based on the hypothesis testing, are presented first, with the predictive analysis, based on the forward stepwise regression analysis, following. A total of 10 hypotheses were tested. All of the hypotheses were stated in the null form. The criterion for the rejection of the null was p<.05. The results are presented separately by hypothesis. The dependent variable in each hypothesis was respondent attitude toward the mainstreaming of special education students. ondents who had no knowledge of or experience with blind students, 2.25 for respondents who possessed very little knowledge of and experience with blind students, 2.53 for respondents who possessed some knowledge of and experience with blind students, 2.29 for respondents who possessed considerable knowledge of and experience with blind students, and 2.52 for respondents whose knowledge of and experience with blind students was comprehensive. The differences in perceptions between respondents controlled for levels of knowledge of and experience with blind students were not statistically significant at p<.05 (refer to Table 8, below on this page). The criterion for the rejection of the null was not met, and as Hypothesis Number Eight was stated in the null, the hypothesis by inference was accepted. This finding indicates that, other factors remaining equal, one may not expect attitudes toward the mainstreaming of special education students in Saudi Arabia among teachers and administrators to vary according to the level of knowledge or experience with blind students.
