This research, at a general level, examines the effects of ì

government censorship of the mass media on culture. More ì

specifically, this research focuses on the use of mass media to ì

perpetuate societal control by the elite of a society.ì

A macro-level of analysis is applied in this examination. ì

Two theories associated with the use of communications in society ì

provide the bases for the analysis. The first theory is ì

memetics, a geopolitical which applies biological models to the ì
