In terms of content, Cicero thoroughly understand his subjects, and when he spoke he also mad reference to a wide variety of legal, moral, civic, and philosophical issues that would help him reach his audience. In terms of style, Cicero developed his own style, one that suited him and that could be made to work effectively in his presentations. It is important to make your expression your own as well as to follow certain rules that will help reach the listener. In terms of delivery, a careful cultivation of the voice is important, and the manner in which the speech is delivered often decides whether anyone really hears it. Delivery includes non-speech communication such as gesture, stance, and demeanor. In terms of wit, the ability to be humorous is not something everyone can learn. Those with a natural ability in this area will have an advantage. Wit from someone who does not have the ability can be damaging rather than helpful.
