Snowstorms in Denver, Colorado

This is an excerpt from the paper...

This study examined patterns of snowfall intensity and 8

frequency in the Denver, Colorado area. Not surprisingly, the 8

frequency of snowfalls decreased as the intensity of snowfall 8

increased. Snowfall frequency was found to increase from 8

September to November, to remain relatively stable through 8

February, record a substantial increase in March, and decline 8

through May. Snowfalls less than three inches tended to peak in 8

January, while snowfalls from three through 11.9 inches tended to 8

peak in March, and snowfalls of 12 inches or more occurred most 8

for 30 snow seasons in Denver, which began with the 1961-1962 8

season and extend through the 1990-1991 season. The snow season 8

in Denver is considered to extend from September through May 8

(Scherer, 1992, p. 37). During the period analyzed, however, 8

traces of snow fell as early as July and August in 1990, and as 8

late as June in both 1974 and 1989 (Bair, 1993, p. 467). During 8

the snow seasons of 1990 and 1991, field studies in support of 8
