STRIVE

This is an excerpt from the paper...

1. The main lesson I took away from STRIVE's prior expansion and replication was the idea that if a program such as STRIVE has proven results, it is important to try the program out in other markets. The greatest success story for me was that STRIVE attempted to expand and create new chapters in other major cities. Most employment groups would keep their techniques a well-guarded secret. However, Chairman Sam Hartwell seems to understand that STRIVE can help more people by expanding to other cities.

Mr. Hartwell is not concerned with personal gain or recognition regarding his leadership and the success of his organization of STRIVE. Instead, Mr. Hartwell is concerned that the affiliates have the money and tools necessary to establish new branches in other cities.

2a. The replication and expansion of STRIVE needs to occur on several fronts. The organizational model of STRIVE will be important in duplicating STRIVE's success in other markets. As part of the corporate culture that helps STRIVE to be successful, new offices must have a flat management structure. Ideally, office management in new facilities will emulate the Sam HartwellĘs management style. STRIVE offices needs to work on the premise that all of its employees have nearly an equal say in the functioning of their organization. This demonstrates the type of respect that Mr. Hartwell has for others. This idea is based on the belief that the people doing the work are in the best position to offer id

to be getting people jobs quickly. 2b. STRIVE should be spread by dissemination. Chairman Sam Hartwell seems comfortable with the idea that STRIVE must expand beyond New York. Therefore, STRIVE offices established in other cities need to work closely and in coordination with the New York office in order to successfully replicate STRIVEĘs success in New York. The EHES office in New York would provide technical assistance to new STRIVE offices. Specifically, this technical assistance can tae the form of advice about start-up. Ideally, as the concept grows and the number of offices increase, STRIVE centers will be in contact with one another. These contacts could be for mutual moral support, to share insights, to offer advice, to clarify operating procedures, and disseminate information to each other. 2c. I think the most effective scaling method for STRIVE would be to disseminate information to anyone interested in creating an independent STRIVE office. Those interested in starting an office would need to contact Mr. Harwell at the STRIVE office in New York. Mr. Hartwell or someone designated to provide information. Hartwell or his subordinates would explain the principles behind STRIVE, the organizational structure of
