Consumer Attitudes About Nurses
This is an excerpt from the paper...
A public opinion poll investigating consumer attitudes about nurses asked them what they thought of the nursing profession, what they believed nurses did, and about the level of education of nurses after leaving high school (Gray, 1999). The poll showed that 85 percent of those polled would be pleased if their sons or daughters chose nursing as a career. In this Harris Poll, a vast majority of the public, 92 percent, said that they trust information about healthcare given to them by nurses - almost the same percentage (93 percent) that said they trust information about healthcare given to them by physicians, and a much higher percentage than those who trust what they are told by teachers (68 percent) or by journalists (51 percent).
