Coach/Teacher Burnout
This is an excerpt from the paper...
The problem investigated in this study involved coach/teacher burnout and the causal factor associated with this phenomenon. The specific purpose of this study was to investigate factors associated with coach/teacher burnout in order to identify causal relationships between coach/ teacher burnout and specific factors. One primary research question and four subsidiary research questions were investigated. The research questions were as follows:Primary research question: What are the factors that cause coach/teacher burnout? 1. What impact do parents, administrators, fans/boosters, community, or athletic directors have on coach/teacher burnout? 2. What factors do coach/teachers believe cause their burnout? 3. What can be doe to prevent coach/teacher burnout? 4. To what extent does time affect coach/teacher burnout? The findings of the research performed are presented in this section separately by research question. Prior to presenting the research findings, descriptive research concerning the research sample is presented. Sample description. As indicated in the preceding chapter of this study, a convenience sample was selected for this study. Thus, the findings of this study may be generalized beyond the members of the sample. The original sample selection included 100 persons. Of thus number, 57 returned usable survey questionnaires. Selected demographic data relevant to the sample are as foll

related to inadequate support from parents, administrators, fans/boosters/community, and athletic directors was as significant cause of coach/ teacher burnout.
Finding related to research question two
Research question two asked: What factor do coach/teachers believe cause their burnout? Quantitative survey questionnaire items 1 through 5, 11-12, and 18 through 26 developed data relevant to this research question. The survey provided a seven-point scale (0-to-6) for responses to questions. The points on the scale were defined by frequency of coach/teacher experience of the potential causal factor of burnout that was identified a questionnaire item. The null hypothesis held that no relation existed between the identified factor and coach/teacher burnout. One criterion was applied to test the null hypothesis. The criterion for the rejection of the null hypothesis was a finding that 20 percent or more of the members of the research sample indicated that the factor was experienced at a frequency of at least once each week. The findings are summarized in Charts 2A and 2B.
