PRELIMINARY PROPOSAL: ASSURING PRODUCT QUALITY IN A GLOBALIZED LOGISTICS ENVIRONMENT

The proposed study will investigate issues involved in assuring product quality in a globalized logistics environment. Within the context of the problem to be investigated, the term "globalized logistics environment" refers to the situation wherein manufacturing firms obtain components and parts from subcontractors in locations geographically scattered and distant from one another and from manufacturing sites for use in manufacturing processes, the locations which also may be geographically scattered and distant from one another (Fine, St. Clair, Lafrance, & Hilderbrand, 2001). The research question that will be investigated in the proposed study is as follows:
