This is an excerpt from the paper...
Two kinds of analyses were conducted on collected data: (1) descriptive analyses conducted for each of the questionnaire items on instructional supervision; and (2) inferential analyses conducted to determine whether overall supervisory scores were associated with the demographics of gender, race, number of years working in this particular school, number of years in the field overall, and school type. This chapter of the study presents the findings observed for all performed analyses. Once findings are reported, they are discussed and interpreted in terms of the existing research reviewed in the literature. Table 1 presents descriptive statistics (Mean, Standard Deviation, Score Range and Median) observed for each of the 51 supervisory items measured by the Instructional Supervision Survey. Regarding the general findings, it can be noted that statistics computed across survey items showed that, on the average, the level of supervisory involvement perceived by teachers was 3.47, a value midway between an involvement level of "sometimes" (a value of 3) and an involvement level of "often," (a value of 4). The median value of 3.33 was not far from the mean of the distribution of scores indicating that in the distribution as a whole, there were not mostly mid-level values accompanied by a few extreme values. While the score range was 4.75, the overall variability of scores (scatter of scores about the mean) was not high. Indeed,

Supervisory Behavior and Race. Three racial categories were measured on the survey. These were "white," "black" and "other." However, all of the teachers responding to the survey were either black or white. Accordingly, only these two categories were used in the one-way analysis of variance conducted to determine whether perceived supervisory involvement differed as a function of race.
As can be seen from Table 5, which presents the findings and
descriptive statistics observed for this conducted analysis, results were not significant. In other words, black principals (Mean = 3.32) were perceived as equally involved as white principals (Mean = 3.57). Relating the mean values to behavioral anchors, involvement levels were viewed as midway between "sometimes" and "often."
Supervisory Behavior and Age. Does age make for a difference in teachers' perceptions of principals' involvement in the instructional supervisory process? Findings observed for the one-way analysis of variance conducted on these data suggest that
